Covid causing hyperglycaemia

While diabetes is known to be a risk factor for severe COVID outcomes, researchers are now observing a new long-term health concern in patients hospitalised with COVID19 -- an increase in new-onset of hyperglycemia, or high levels of blood sugar lasting months after the infection more

Yes it is true that the there is a spike in sugar levels when Covid 19 patients are being treated. THE SPIKE IN SUGAR LEVEL WAS CAUSED BY THE ADMINISTRATION OF STEROID (DEXAMETHASONE - EVEN WHO RECOMMENDS). Though Steroids are not direct treatmentt for the Virus, it is administered to reduce the inflamation. Steroids are basically designed to reduce the amount of inflammation in the body, which might happen when the body’s own natural immune system tries to fight any virus, infection or bacteria. IT IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW THAT STEROIDS WON’T CURE THE CONDITION, BUT THEY TEND TO GIVE RELIEF TO THE PATIENT BY REDUCING THE INFLAMMATION IN THE BODY. more

Which researcher? The guy who comes to iron your clothes. You know it is a crime to spread rumours which are scaring the public. more
There are several research publications on this subject, and it is an established finding. One of the publications is "Acute and long-term disruption of glycometabolic control after SARS-CoV-2 infection" by L.Montefusco, et al. - Nature Metabolism 3, 774-785(2021).

Solution is to stay safe, follow basic norms and get vaccinated. more
