It is raining cricket in India with matches being played every day. In every game, drinks, water or otherwise, are given to the players on the field to quench their thirst. Most of them consume only a part of the drink. Presume that the rest us thrown off. The bottles, made of plastic, also end up in garbage dumps, I presume. IPL itself has over 70 matches spread over 50 days. The amount of wastage and plastics the game will generate is humongous. BCCI might be cash rich and the money for this might be a miniscule amount, but is definitely a huge problem for the environment. BCCI and all other cricketing bodies need to come up with alternatives to avoid generating such huge waste which ends up damaging the environment. more
Is it possible to use small 500 ml or even of lower capacity to store sell and dispense water? if this can be done commercially, then the problem can be tackeled. Other wise us of plastic bottles at IPL matches is just a small fry when compsred to the ose of plastic bottles IN one's daily life, including train and other travel where the consumption is very heavy. more
I agree with your concern about environmental issue. However, the fact is we all are aware of the situation. It would have been of help if a solution to this issue was suggested by you. You will agree that you can't stop the game to serve water to a fielder/ player to serve water in a glass & jug. What about the wastage of a more precious resource the water itself. All we can do is write to BCCI and bring it to their attention. more
Mind boggling however bcci will not do anything due to cash richness. It is our responsibility not to buy tickets and make a punch to their cash generation. Moreover politicians are members in the bcci board ๐๐ more
