Daikin AC service and parts cost exhorbidant

I bought Daikin Inverter AC in 2017. Till last June it worked Fine. June 2019 it was not cooling enough. When complained Daikin service people serviced. It was OK for one week and again it was not cooling enough. When complained again the service person said the PCB board is faulty and it has to be changed. They gave a quote of Rs.12000 which was exorbitant by any means. I got a local AC service person. He said he will service the board for Rs.6000. I got it done but again after one week, it was not cooling enough and they say there is no warranty for board servicing. I back to square one. Now the service person says both Indoor board and the outdoor board has to be replaced and he says he cannot confirm the price now... We need to raise our voice against such exorbitant service charges...We are stuck with these people since other people are not able ti service invertor AC boards... more

Inverter ACs are quite robust and very comfortable as there is no on-off leading to uncomfortable chill winds during on time of compressor. At the same time, the board is very expensive as it is heart of the unit. Unfortunately it is part of the compromise you have to pay in unfortunate event when it fails. Earlier I had LG AC which used to frequently break down, it was not inverter type. Now I have Daikin, been using since last two years without complaints. But yes if goes bad, very expensive at that point. more
Yes, it's a common phenomena as such service centers are not well equipped with trained technician and customers are penalised because of mistakes of suchpeople. It's important tob give a strong feed back on the company's web site on such issue. secondly we advised all the customers always buy any consumer durables from an authorised agent that always helps a customer truly in such situation. more
Madhukar Sheth is quite right. Window Acs are robust. you can clean the filter yourself every two weeks very easily and last for years. more
The ethics of after sales service and customer care unfortunately lack a lot in our country. And prices/costs during and after lockdown do not seem to know any limits; people charge whatever they wish, including the so-called official service centres of the manufacturers. It's "andher nagri" .......... more
Window AC are most robust. Dont go for split which uses very high qty of gas and hence costly to refill. Also leakage points increase. more
