DEAF EARS OF SERVICE PORTALS

There is mushroom growth of agents under tourism industry, who provide you air tickets, rail tickets and bus tickets. Besides that hotel accommodation is also arranged by them. All the portals have different types of terms and conditions as well cancellational policy and before clicking one has to be very alert and attentive to ensure that there are no hidden or fine prints, which have escaped attention of the customer.

The other area where most of these type service providers are defaulted is refund of cancelled tickets / bookings. The magnanimity of this deficiency in customer service can be made from complaint portals. I, too, have a pending claim against GOIBIBO, which is now two years old. I have exhausted myself with all the efforts without getting a single response from their side. I am now contemplating to move through Consumer court.

Let us pool our issues against these service providers and move the court after giving them one chance to resolve the issues or face the music. more

Reply to Shri Vinod Malhotra: We should actually importune the Ministry for tourism to set up an Ombudsman like the Banking and Insurance Ombudsman to attend and redress consumer complaints speedily. 1. I faced a similar issue with Makemytrip. Their portal did not allow cancellation or refund when the flight was delayed. Later, when I applied for refund they just closed my refund request. This is despite charging a convenience fee. Finally, I directly raised the issue with the airlines and got the refund. 2. Some time back I booked a hotel accommodation by making full payment in advance. When we landed at the place some amenities were missing. The hotelier bluntly said I have your money no matter what I will not process refund. So we were forced to stay in the hotel. These portals make no effort to check the amenities actually available in the hotel and neither support customers who complain about lack of amenities. If customers have to figure out the amenities themselves then why should these portals advertise them in the first place and get us in to a trap. India has a lot of tourism potential. I hope we overcome these hurdles through a fair mechanism to realize its full potential. more  
There should be a regulatory body with the Tourism ministry which controls and polices these wrong doers. more  
GO IBIBO and some portals are not secure.Agents creep in make my trip,while you are booking they ring ask you,and say they can help you. Be careful. more
