Disposal of national flag per norms

As crores of flags post hoisting are disposed this independence day, we must note that under Section 2.2 (xiii) and Section 3.25 of the flag code it stats that when the flag is damaged or soiled, it shall be destroyed as a whole in private, preferably by burning or by any method consistent with the dignity of flag. In no case, can a damaged or torn flag be allowed to remain on display and it should not be cast aside or disrespectfully disposed of, the code states.

Does anyone know if this awareness is there or has your urban local body come up with disposal plan. It should not be that flags are lying in roads with people walking on them.

Has this been though through? more

We must promote to use Cotton 'Khadi' Flags. I have been using it for last 10 years, and still it looks new. It will last for another 25 years, if preserved properly. If at all flags are to be disposed, it should be burned to ashes with respect and the ashes to be disposed in a flowing river with respect. more
As it is , the civic authorities in cities and towns are struggling to dispose off the tonnes of garbage generate everyday. With the Ganesha Pooja coming up shortly, the flags disposal will add to the problem of idol disposal. Instead, the could gave asked everyone to write the preamble of our Constitution on every building and vehicle and to educate people on our Constitution. Flags, torch lights etc are only shiw offs. more
The environmentalists will be up in arms now that burning the flag as one of the proper way to dispose has come to light. There must be another solution. By the way, I understand there are some restrictions to Deepavalli fireworks. Really??? This is once a year event of celebration. And this creates significant pollution??? How about the daily generation of Industrial and Travel-related pollution??? Food for thought!!! more
Collection & respectfully disposal by the authorized local agency like BBMP in bangalore will help I believe, also request people to use the good quality flags which can be reused later rather using plastic / poor quality cloth....Jai Hind more
