Draft Airline Passenger Charter

I think we had discussed airline cancellation and other airline issues in this circle. I request everyone to read the draft charter issued by Govt of India Civil Aviaiton Ministry and share their comments. Some of the concerns we raised have been addressed while others have been ignored. We should give feedback from the circle and share some of the previous polls.

Charter will list compensations to passengers in case of canceled and delayed flights and provide better provisions for people with special needs. Two seats in front to be blocked for them for people with special needs. A lock-in option is available for 24 hours for cancellation charges. A ticket can be canceled within a 24 hour period of booking a ticket provided it is cancelled 96 hours before a flight.Airline will also provide Lock-in option for 24 hours after booking ticket where ticket can be cancelled without any charges. This facility is available to passengers up to 96 hours prior to flight departure. more

INDIGO AIRLINES -- NAGPUR-Mumbai- MUSAT. Recently I happened to go to Muscat from Nagpur via Mumbai by INDIGO. I had to go to Mumbai Domestic airport and then to go International Airport for Muscat. But this journey was from Out of Airport Authority via Private Taxi and has to pay apprx. Rs 650/- from my Pocket for which I was not informed. Last year also I had to travel on the same Route and by same Indigo but the transport arrangement was made by Airport Authority from Domestic to International Airport. This is the common Problem faced by all the Pasengers and looks very ugly to Foreign Tourists. I need the Refund for this Rs 650/- + Rs 650/- that was incurred while on Return. more  
CANCELLATION CHARGES IN ITSELF IS A BIG ISSUE AND IT SHOULD BE UPTO A MAX LEVEL OF Rs 1500.00 UPTO 24-36 HRS BEFORE SCHEDULED DEPARTURE OF A FLIGHT. more  
I appreciate the concern of Mr.Ajay Shah and endorsed his views. I suggest we must know the reasonsfor cancellation and if these are out of the control of the passenger we should appreciate that and give bit relief in comparison to the other whose reasons are not satisfactory. more  
But, Mr. Ajay Shah, the DGCA has not made provision for refund of dues either on account of cancellation of tickets, or commission of agents or for reasons of overcharged amount to the "unidentifiable" consumers of air services where the unclaimed money should go to a separately maintained consumers' account and transferred to the Consumer Welfare Fund under Consumer Protection Act. In fact, a copy of this Charter should have been sent over to the Department of Consumer Affair for their comments and advice, which could be done now. more  
The final version must be printed and pasted at the airports. Those who do not have access to internet must be aware of their rights as consumers. more
