DTH requiring KYC ridiculous

The new KYC process has been mandated for all new as well as existing DTH subscribers in the country. For new subscribers, they will have to go through the entire KYC process similar to subscribing to a new telecom connection. A representative from the DTH operator will carry out the necessary processes for verification and post that, the installation will be executed. For existing customers, a deadline of two years has been implemented to get the KYC process done.

My question is as a consumer I can cause damage with a mobile connection by placing inappropriate call. On dth I am a passive customer. Why do you need KYC.

Tomorrow will I also need to do kyc for buying medicines or shopping on ecommerce sites?

How will the country progress like this with overload of regulation? more

Don't undergo kyc process if you decide through online verification. more
This has become a one way traffic. They have access to us but we do not have access to them.Every time you call different person will appear and then you can not expect the proper result.Every time you have to explain from A to Z of every thing this cause irritation. more
The mindless people parked in TRAI always act in ridiculous way to let people know their presence in the organisation and the authority they enjoy by virtue of their statutory empowerment. They always tend to act in a sarcastic way, to illustrate, the changes brought in refixing packs and tariffs with effect from January, 2019 in DTH services. They bluffed the consumers saying that the new system will substantially bring down the monthly DTH bills as no more they will require to pay for channels they never view. The fact is that the newly introduced system has just doubled or even more the monthly DTH bills of every consumer for much less number of channels! Doubt arises as if these people act in collusion with the service provides in a suspicious manner! Now they have made completion of KYC mandatory for DTH subscribers and we should be prepared to face their some other ridiculed ruling in the near future to come. more
yes tomorrow it can become want to buy veges kyc required - then do we know each and every govt official in person first with their DNA ? ? most scams are happening online now ? more
Let there be no objection for KYC, but the service provider should be reasonable in responding to the requirements of the consumer. TRAI should consider reducing the charges. more
