Expiry date of consumer products.

First of all, all consumable product should have a batch number and Manufacturing / packaging date with a legible ink that can not be removed by scratch or other means. Or the date should be stamped with stamp pad on both the ends such as Date of Manufacture / package and Expiry of the product. Hardly few would have access to check in the sight with wrappers / packagers. In every Taluk there should be a customer complaint cell or other office who can accept / attend the complaint on daily basis with regards to various problems faced by the consumers from different products, problems with contractors / real estate / construction offices and other agencies. Presently there is no such offices in all Taluks to make a complaint against any product / services or other reasons.
Although before sales lots of commitments is given by the sales staff and agent, once you bring a product at home and if there is a complaint about the product then there are thousand excuses by the company for not attending the complaint or changing the product within the guarantee period.
The product guarantee should be considered by its usage and not kept idle at home. Even the agency / dealer may not be aware for how long this product was in the manufacturers kept idle. The company will take initiative to dispose old items that were stored in their warehouse and the dealer / agency is not aware of such products life span. The life span of any product should be considered from the total usage of continuous period to check their functionality and NOT the number of months from the date of purchase . more

With digital India initiative we can now direct companies producing retail products to upload product details that inculde the products' serial number and its expiry date etc in a domain named National Retail Product Information say NRPI before being taken out from the production centre. End user can always verify and settle his/her score in case of any discrepancies. Thanks more
We still do not have laws and law enforcing mechanisms which make the entity compromising issues of public health bleed and bleed very heavily so that not only these entities, other entities also taken lesson not to indulge against the public interest. Our entire system and mechanisms have a very long way to go to mature to this level. Until such a time, the public has to suffer without any recourse to alleviation of these issues. more
Recently i have come acrooss thro news papaer that one person was critical by taking expired medicine . Medical Field is the one which we have to be very carefull. Please dont buy medicines without expiry date printed on it and the Batch no. Also the eatables like day ot day food of BREAD which is having expiry only 5 days which has to be double checked. I think in Chennai there is no frequent checking by the concerned officers. Only we should be very careful. more
