Fixing MRP of essentials during covid-19

See what has been done here in Noida in attached. They have fixed maximum retail prices of all essentials.

Why cant the Govt of india fix a MRP for all essentials across India.

That will provide clarity to all.

Because folks like the ecommerce apps and many local stores are selling essentials at much higher prices.

I am hopeful LocalCircles will escalate this ask to food and consumer dept and this will be done soon.

No reason not to

In a particular item there may be grade and quality. How will you distinguish in pricing? more
I agree there has to be uniform ity in MRP of essentials throwout India atleast during these critical time s. It should be also effective ly implemented. It may be also there currently but there is no effective communication. It shd come via TV so that all know about it. more
As rightly told by Mr Roy merely fixing pricing of commodities by Govt may not be enough as there is lack of transparency and ethics in business that itself will neutralize all such attempts by Govt . as in democracy Govt does not run the society it is we the people. we find short cut in everything we do and nothing is farther from truth as we witness in this critical phase that human society is witnessing if now morality will not be given upper hand than alas things will be too late. more
Very gud idea.MRP has to be fixed for disallowing dealers of spl commodities to charge arbitrarily. In case of medicines whose prices have already increased by 5-10 % this kind of control is desireable. In some grocery stores price hide is common n d clerk moves his torch to find n record d prices in bills.DEPICTION of price is urgent n consumer section to vouchsfe it. more
Do you really think that mere fixing of rates would restrain all kinds of malpractices by we the Indians? Then what about hoarding and creating artificial shortages by businessmen? Price fixing is a trivial issue and a gimmick but if the supply chain is restored then we are saved from many hassles. No one is coming forward to part with information of the hoarders as they cater to a class and in spite of our knowledge we remain calm and poised and wear a mask of ignorance; that's our quality after all. There are so much of hype about online/e-commerce and their contribution in distribution but I can say that it is at least not the same at Kolkata. My prepaid orders of staples given long back to Amazon has been found cancelled due to Covid-19. more
