Flights - their way of increased revenue
I did a test run to book a flight on Indigo. Here are by observations of how they are increasing their revenue at the cost of the customer:
- Option of double and triple seats i.e. a passenger can opt to book 2 or 3 seats for one person, so that the number of passengers seated next would be either 1 or nil. the charge for the additional two seats is almost double that of the single seats.
- EArlier, the center seats used to be free seats. Now, almost every seat is a paid seat, ranging from Rs. 99 to 1000 per seat.
- And then the usual other charges - Aviation security fee, UDF, GST, Convenience fee (Rs. 300 for each seat i.e Rs. 900 for the triple seat.
A Chennai Bangalore flight - single seat cost is about Rs. 2800, Triple is 5600.
The total fare comes to about Rs. 7650.
Yes, safety is taken care of to an extent, but at an additional cost. more

Airlines changing timings according to their whims and fancies i asked spice jet to make provision for travel for prepone journey and hitel stay at chennai and told them to produce DGCA Letter they were helpless and refunded my full fare more

Charging abnormal amount to keep the other seats can not be termed unethical. The notification by the Central Government to keep the middle seat vacant is no more effective, as the flights are going almost all full. more

Are we back to normal? Did the airline invite the pandemic? Are they forcing you to fly? Are they not offering the seat as "you like" 2 or 3? Do you think the airlines made money when they were grounded? Did Mr. Padmanabhan shared their loss of revenue when their entire fleet was grounded? Did they sack any employee? Did DGCA write off the parking charges of their aircraft on the tarmac like they did for farmers, traders, and defaulters of loan EMIs? Did they include airline industry as another one needed help? When the health ministry keep telling people not to travel and here is one guy who try arm chair travel to blame the airline who is willing to take you where you want and offer additional safety of contamination. Why the rail fare varies from II Sleeper, to II AC Sleeper or other classes? I lost my brother and I tried to fly down and contacted Indigo and offered special priority in allotting a seat for a flight that started in 7 hours of my request. They charged me the normal fare of Rs.2836.00 and gave me a window seat with two middle and aisle seat kept vacant. IF YOU WANT ADDITIONAL SAFETY AND COMFORT YOU NEED TO PAY. Other wise all airlines will meet the fate of "Air India". more

We have Confirmed booking for the flight on 12th June 2020 from Muscat to Nagpur for 2 Passengers and Muscat to Mumbai for 3 Passengers with the Standard Luggage. Due to Carona the International Flights are Stopped. On contact with the booking Agency it has learned that the Booking Amount was held up with Indigo and the Amount will be adjusted when the Flight Restarts. Till now we are waiting for the Flights to Restart. How much more time will it take to Restart God knows but we are the sufferers for our Work getting Stuck. more

Airlines not only increase the price of seat but also blindly increase the luggage charges also , this is not fare. more
