For non-repairing of Television

I have bought LG Television having Model No. 42PN4500-TA Serial no 408PPF8003563 date of purchase 7th November 2014. The television was working all fine since the date of purchase till 6th August 2019, when i have encountered some issue and it stopped working. Immediately i called LG INDIA CUSTOMER CARE SERVICES and register a complaint dated 7th August 2019 with the service centre bardoli, gujarat to resolve the issue. In turn an engineer was deputed on 9th August 2019 for attending and resolving the issue. After thorough checking of television it was informed me that one card of “Motherboard” got burnt and the same needs to be replaced with the new one and it was further advised to take the television to the nearest service station Boardoli for attending the issue and thoroughly checking once the motherboard received by service station .
After confirmation of mother board received by service station. i visited service station in bardoli and checking the television it was informed that 2 more cards got burnt other than “Motherboard”. It was further informed by the service station that the only 2 cards are available with LG india so without wasting much of time i have ordered for the All three cards of “Motherboard”. Thereafter, on 23rd August i have received call from Boardoli service station stating that out of three cards one has become obsolete and same is not being manufactured by the company any more.
It was also communicated that since the part of television is not available in such circumstances company can offer 15% discount of new Television. when i mentioned that i am in favour of getting my Television get repaired. Moreover, it is expected from a reputed company like LG to keep the spare parts of product available for after sells service for at least 10 years or lifespan of any products after the date of purchase or last production whichever is later as per international standards.
I already emailed all details of my purchase like bill and receipt to LG india but even after many days 20 no solution and action is taken by LG.
So please advise me what to do in this case. more

Now the matter stands at you don’t have a TV to watch , either negotiate for more discount and finish the matter. Remember that once these Electronic gadgets start with problem it will be never ending. Remember you are lucky it served you for 5 yes. more
We are living in an era where the technology is evolving faster than we are able to adapt to it. Every company is launching 2- 3 new and better products every 6 months. Please note that manufacturing of a new product is dependent on many factors but one of the most crucial today is to remain technologically ahead in the race. It is very important for the survival of the company because if they do not build the new products with the new technology they will lose the race and become extinct. We all know how the most well know MNC's of our childhood era have gone extinct because they were late in adapting to the new technology. This applies to all the companies in the ecosystem of the manufacturing a new product, which includes the chip / component manufacturers, sub vendors, part suppliers, sub assemblers etc. and finally the brand from which we are buying. None of these can survive if they are manufacturing today the parts for 5 years old technology. To survive they have to move on and embrace current technology. Also note that todays electronic products do not have individual components but entire units (PCB's / panels). Each of this unit is customized and is manufactured to be used only in one particular model of a brand). So again it is logistically and financially not viable for anybody to store so many components for so many models. Your TV has performed wonderfully for 5 years without any defect which is excellent. Depreciation on electronic goods is 25% per year. So the product actually becomes zero value within 4 years. If they are still offering you a 15% buyback value it is a great offer. But yes they should not charge you for the repairs which were carried out without ensuring whether parts are available or not. Even if you get the parts which are burnt out currently some other part may burn out / fail tomorrow and again you will be put to inconvenience. You will end up spending more on repairing the TV than buying a new one. If for some reason you still want to use your old TV only, then you can try to find out individual repair shops who might help you. These guys source parts from discarded TV sets and can help you in repairing you TV. But again you do not know how many will it last as it will not carry any warranty. more
Same view as Mr.Mohan Mohapatra. more
It is a normal complaint by all the customers.I also faced the similar situation with Samsung Smart TV.Fortunately few months of warranty period were left and they offered me buy back option at depreciated value. Please contact customer care of LG and if they don,t reply then register your complaint with Consumer forum also. more
I favor going to consumer court with notice to the dealer and company. They should punished for such acts. more
