How poor are cheated - this time by Naaptol sellers

The sellers tell poor They have won a ₹14 lakh ka lottery by Naaptol And someone from the "GST dept" has asked her to pay a rate of 4%! Which some of them did.

Then they ask them for ₹20,000 by 5 pm.

The rich and sophisticated have devised so many ways to cheat the poor more

Not only poor but mostly well to do people are easily trapped out of their greed for more and more money. The modus operandi of the fraudsters are the same. One should be on high alert and overlook any communication relating to such traps. more
In spite of so many advisory from various departments, people are interested in easy money and that is the reason people are victims of fraudsters. Our Cyber Police is not equiped with any mechanism to handle the fraudsters. Give a complaint and forget. more
Absolutely true. But let's not forget that generally speaking the victims belonging to all classes too are greedy and get blinded by their greed to lose sight of the ploy which has many slips to show. I was once snubbed by my 14 year old grand son abroad who gave me a long lecture on how to avoid these traps. I advise you all to advise others to refer such offers to the younger members of the family or of friends family for advice in such maters. They very well know the minds of their counterparts (the crooks). more
If you study the daily report of fraudsters, it is exactly the opposite of what you say. It is poor crooks, mainly from Delhi and Bihar, who are cheating the greedy middle class and making away with lakhs and crores of rupees. Especially through Facebook, promising marriage to women, claiming they are sending illegal gifts from UK. then impersonating customs officers and asking for bribes, which they pay up dutifully. Exactly the same fraud is reported at least twice a week!! And when I advertised my flat for rent, I got at least a dozen calls from the same North Indian gang, with the same line - they would immediately pay me an advance, which would be done by me scanning a QR code they would send. They didn't know I am a retired techie, and I know well that scanning a QR code is for PAYING, and not RECEIVING money !! more
The perpetrators are fraudsters, and they need not be rich. Mr SN Sitaram above has said absolutely the rational thing. The problem is human weaknesses of greed and ignorance. Even senior citizens fall for it. The real problem is- so many people feel so ashamed that they do not report it and it goes unabated. more
