Lenskart levying gst over discounted MRP

I thought I saw a notification from cbec in one of the circles saying that no vendor can charge gst over discounted mrp. Here is lenskart. 30% discount on the MRP of 2100 gets the product to 1486 and then they add 12% GST making it 1664. MRP includes all taxes so does discounted MRP. more

Very bad. It is cheating and should be tasked. more
Technically they are not wrong. It’s just another marketing gimmick to show a higher discount % than actual. They are cheating, by charging GST/CGST and the cases should be filed with the Police and the local Controller of W&M who are in league with the traders online and offline. more
Go to the GST website and lodge a compliant. Your compliant would be attended to. more
1. These vendors are hoodwinking the gullible customers. 2. On Lenskart site Customers get attracted seeing 30 % discount on the total price they have to pay. But the end discount here is coming to only about Rs 184 !!, that is about 8.77 % (Rs 1848 without GST in MRP less Rs 1664 paid with GST). 3. I may be wrong here in calculations but Lenskart should publish the end price with GST (their market price) that a customer has to pay. No vendor should be allowed to carry on hoodwinking customers like this example where vendor is highlighting MRP (that includes GST) BUT His Market Price that is NOT showing specifically inclusion/exclusion of GST and the end price. 4. Concerned authorities should lay down clear ruling on this and inform all public. more
