Mandatory Potable Water Standards across India

Today there is news where Consumer Affairs Minister himself is saying that Delhi Jal Board water in Delhi does not meet standards and is not drinkable.

Why in the first places have these potable water standards not been made mandatory.

It is Govts job to mandate and enforce. Every municipality has to follow the same. it needs to be in KRAs of a city mayor and municipal commissioner.

Please use peoples support for such a cause and put pressure on municipalities.

I have been in this circle for 2 months I believe now. BIS seems to be lacking energy. Such wonderful connect established but no officer comes forward and interacts. more

The quality of water is getting diluted due to mostly industrial pollution and waste water going down the drains. Industrialists were never advised nor penalised and waste water from the houses were not treated properly before they mix with the river. Basic change in the approach is required to get clean water. more
It has been said by the Govt of India in the Department of Consumer Affairs that their counterparts in the States or at the Centre do not bother to respond to their letter. The Department is just for receiving and forwarding letter of complaints, but does not appear to be competent to get the complaints dealt with successfully. more

Good Comments but with freebies Govt. creates shortage of funds and then cry. All freebies should be curbed and consumers should be charged for quality services which should be enforced on the Govt. bodies/departments more
