Whether merchants can charge 2% extra on total bilk on payment through credit card. I faced such situation and lodged complaint with banker. They refunded the whole bill amount including 2% extra charged by merchant. What us the experience of other members. more

I think bank charge from the merchants for facilitating transactions on credit. The merchants want to recover the same from the customer. Any way it is burden to customer. To encourage card payments such extra charges need to be stopped. Refunding total bill amount including 2% extra is news. more  
All banks are earning good profit and hence they should not insist on the merchants to collect 2% service charge from customers. If RBI is not inclined to intervene in this matter, then cashless transaction will remain only on paper. more  
a hospital near my place previously used to charge 1% above the bill if paid through debit/credit card, but now has hiked the same to 2%. if this is the case, how can govt expect us to make digital payments, its better to pay cash!! more  
This is an unfair practice by many shop keepers. Rather that waiting for consumers to bring up individual cases, the authorities must do spot checks and deal. Once a number of such errants are dealt with, these shop keepers who are otherwise quite scared of authorities will stop doing such things. I have faced a shop keeper telling me very clearly that he will add 2% extra for purchasing by using credit Card. Unfortunately, I could not pursue the matter due to paucity of time. The Government servants who are drawing salaries to check such malpractices, should do their job correctly. Where is the accountability? more
