Need for AMC Standards
Many companies take AMC for appliances, white goods, AC, pest control services and many products and services but do a terrible job when it comes to servicing the customer or remembering to make service visits.
Can the BIS standardise some terms for AMCs and make them mandatory. They can be like acknowledging consumer compliant within 30 minutes, first call or visit within 48 hours. Right now major brands make us wait 5-14 days.

One more issue during Corona Epidemic.Suppose I have an agreement for say 3 years and it could not be serviced for say one year due to Corona.I think these Companies should extend my Contract free of charge for same period . more

It is better to opt for an "as and when reqd" service even if it is slightly costly. The service agency earns only after providing the service as against the advance money paid to them. There are many small service providers who maintain AC, fridge, motor, microwave, washing machine etc. at a reasonable price. It would be better if we can choose one from them after evaluting their performance. more

Allow me to make another comment here. Opinions can be divided on whether or not to opt for annual maintenance. Such suggestions are there for people who are totally ignorant of how the gadgets work and feel helpless. The industry has found yet another loophole, that of offering additional insurance cover for an extended period of some years on new products purchased. Well, it's the prerogative of the industry to lure you, and it's up to you to be lured or not. more
