Netflix should be booked

These foreign companies provide services in India but dont follow Indian law and seems no one is there to enforce it.

They have been charging my husbands credit card automatically every month without any OTP or approval.

How can they do this? Where does Indian banking system allow auto charging of credit card.

I remember this issue was raised in this circle 6-7 months back but no action yet. more

Question on the following statement - //They have been charging my husbands credit card automatically every month without any OTP or approval. // - Did your husband "Accept" the "Terms and Conditions" while signing up for the service? If yes, I would recommend you go back and read the terms again and I'm certain this was informed during your signup. In that case I do not see any issue with your case. Please take this as a lesson learnt when accepting future services so you do not run into any surprises! more
Its your husband choice to renew every month as international transactions are 2 party and in india its 3 party in 2 party transaction payment gateway and end users the card holder and in 3 party its payment gateway, end user and the bank to authorized with OTP. Most of the international payment are done without OTP, OTP is started in india by Central Bank that is RBI as a protection but in international payments they are not governed by Indian RBI these payments are authorized by VISA / MASTERCARD associations directly after validating the card number, name on card, cvv and expiry date thats it so in future be careful. more
It happens in the day to day working online for our various needs. We do not notice or we are made to do certain operations unknowingly. For instance google is the preferred search engine for many. However Yahoo or Microsoft prompts you when you are downloading something to download their search engine which also enables you to use your search engine google without your knowing. They collect your browsing interest and accordingly present features to you. Same way when we download some features we are prompted to download what we do not want. IT IS HAPPENING MAINLY BECAUSE OF THE GREEDINESS AND UNETHICAL WAY OF WORKING OF THE SEARCH ENGINE PROVIDERS TO ATTRACT REVENUE BY ADVERTISEMENT. more
Better to request cancellation of present Credit Card and issue another one. If you do not do this the trouble is likely to continue. more
Take up the matter with credit card agency and cancel the standing instruction more
First you take up matter with customers care of the credit card agency/bank and request for stopping payment to Netflix, or cancelation of ur credit card & reissue of another card. more
You are at liberty to ask an refund from netflix for unwanted services against your Disconsent more
I too have burnt my figures, but for a different company, mainly due to faulty RBI policy. While in India, if we do online purchases, verification through OTP is a must payment to get released for the Credit Card used. However, if one does online purchases with any organization NOT situated in India, there is no such OTP requirement. As a result, most of these companies have a HIDDEN FINE PRINT, which calls for an auto renewal approval available to these companies, without the knowledge of the customer. To stop this, I got my credit card changed. And yet, after the stipulated time period, the Citibank allowed the transaction to go through (even after having received a new credit card with new number), and I was forced to take up a quarrel with that organization. Luckily, it got solved in a very short time period, but then, I stopped ordering anything from the non-Indian organization through online orders, using Credit cards. I do NOT understand, why should there be two different policies released by RBI… one for Indian Organizations (using OTP verification) and all others (no verification, and auto renewal without the knowledge of the customer) more
