On Consumer Protection Bill 2019 that lapsed

The work on the current Bill which lapsed started as early as 2014 and it went to law ministry, cabinet and to the standing committee of parliament and stakeholders discussions and also put on the public domain for comments. The good suggestions from all quarters were taken into the Bill and this Bill, when it would be passed, would have replaced 32-year-old Act which has outlived its time due to many changes in Market giving new challenges to consumers. But all the man-hours spent on this has gone in vain, as the Bill now stands lapsed. Consumers would have benefitted a lot because the Bill envisaged (1) creation of an executive authority to deal with unfair trade practices(2) regulations on e-commerce (3) direct selling (4) introducing mediation to settle consumer disputes (5) product liability compensation (6) measures simplifying consumer court process for quick delivery of justice. Now we all can wait with our hands tied till the new govt. comes, in what form God alone knows more

Consumer awareness and bill must be pursued and be made effective through public pressure groups. It is obvious certain groups will not allow it to become a reality as the bill would enable quality improvement of the consumer environment. Even earlier Consumer Protection Bill was a well kept secret and was not allowed to bloom to its full potential. So sadly fraud, adulteration, corruption et al continue to flourish and are actually undermining the country. more
The salary/allowances paid to parliamentarians must have allowance for productive work done in a month. If the work done is zero or less then that allowance must be paid accordingly. This can be termed as "Productivity Linked Incentive" as is being done in many factories/organisations. more
If allowance is paid to pass a bill then bill would have been passed. No benefit to them then why,how the pass the bill more
Good initiative, but when the Bill is expected to be passed ???? more
Most of the law makers do not want to hear consumer problem. They dint want to give any rights to consumer. Most of the politicians and parties are backed by industrialist. How can we believe good thing from them. We need another long fight for our own politicians. more
