Patient’s Right to know about his doctor’s qualification and hospital/clinic

Today, doctors of various pathies like allopathy, ayurvedic, homeopathy, naturopathy runs clinics/hospitals in our country. But no information regarding pathy of doctors who are providing their services there is displayed on board of clinic/hospital.
According to Consumer Protection Act and various verdict passed by different courts including consumer court and Hon. Supreme court, medical services comes under purview of Consumer Protection Act by considering patient as consumer and doctor as service provider. So, according to CPA, it is the right of patients (consumer) to know all information about medical services from health service provider called doctor/clinic/hospital (like in which pathy treatment is given, qualification of doctor, medicines used by doctor etc.) and simultaneously it is a mandatory duty of service provider called doctor/clinic/hospital to provide the same to consumer called patient.
Thus every patient has right of know in a language he/she can understand, about the doctor who treat him/her, his qualification, about medicine etc. Like in market, it is compulsory to display a manufacturer’s name, weight, and manufacturing and expiry date, MRP etc. on each item.
But unfortunately, thousands of quacks practicing in our country are playing with lives of patients uninterruptedly since long. Person, having no degree or having a degree of ayurved or homeopathy, prescribing potentially hazardous allopathic medicines, injections and indoor treatment at the cost and risk of patients.
To prevent such a cheating of the people of country, if provision of compulsory display of qualification of particular pathy of doctor for which he/she qualified on board, letter pad, prescription pad, in a language and size of font used in display of name of doctor/clinic/ hospital (e.g. allopathic doctor/ clinic/hospital in case of MBBS or MD, arurvedic doctor/clinic/hospital in case of BAMS, homeopathic doctor/clinic/hospital incase of BHMS/DHMS graduates.)
If such a mandatory provision will implements, it will eradicates many of irregularities, jugglery and cheating existing in medical/health sector. It will also give right to get all information of doctor/clinic/hospital to the people as a patient. more
