Poor state of civic affairs in most cities

At Epsilon, located on Yemalur Main Road in Bengaluru there are around 150 villas, of which 105 are occupied. A basic villa in Epsilon costs Rs 10 crore and goes up to Rs 20-30 crore. Last year the flooding was so bad that the average financial loss per villa was around Rs 50 lakh.

This is the poor state of civic affairs in the country with absolutely no accountability.

Why should water logging fines not be imposed on municipal officials? more

While granting permission for construction of towers or rowhouse or independent banglows by the respective authorities, had the inspection authorities stringently inspected flood water drainage system or had it been specified clearly about free flowing flood water, before issuing O. C., flooding wouldn't have occured. Corruption plays a major roll. more
This is not Turkey where recently all the eligible municipal officers who had permitted building constructions and the contractors were shot dead. That kind of respect/samman we cannot give it to Babus or politicians in India. The Government officials have no responsibility and accountability but only know their drawing rights. Drawing wages, TA, allowance and pensions. Happy hunting my dear officials. more
There were floods in vadodara a few years ago. They were shocked that place is not low lying or water logged. They had some flash rains and the city was flooded. When they were cleaning the drains they found it was blocked with Paan masala/Gutka packets and more than that it has chips packets plastic bags and even condoms and plastic water bottles. This was accumalating for many years. But still water passes. But when there was heavy rain the heavy flow of water moved the garbage THAT WE THREW and blocked the flood drains. I am pretty sure this is the case even in Bangalore if they checked the drains. We people throw all plastic packaging incessantly and then expect that it will not block the drains. IN bangalore there has been encroachment of drains. They put a slab on the drain on the side of the road where there is a bridge and then build houses or mainly commercial shops then they dump all their sweage and garbage into the drain below and then it gets blocked. Before blaming Muncipal officials first hold a mirror to ourselves and see what we are doing. more
Shoddy state of affairs more
Should you not hold the developer responsible? Should the owners not do due diligence before purchase? Everything is government problem. Because the uber rich are effected? more
This is what the Govt. bodies are supposed to regulate. we are running after Minimum Government Maximum Governance. Optimal Government Maximum Governance should be our aim. more
