Prices-of essentials

My close friend who is a farmer says The farm gate price of tomatoes was rs.13/kg day before yesterday, rs.10/ kg yesterday and rs.9/ kg today.

Most of us atleast in cities are paying 45-50/kg for the same.

Why is there still so much middle manning and gap despite the online platforms. Are these online platforms still using the same sources that redhi wala use.

What is the consumer ministry doing. The least they could do is keep price of essentials in check. What a fail more

Present agricultural ministry slated detailed MSP OR MRP to farmers for their produces, paving way for farmers to consumers direct access, enable a farmer earn more price, eliminating middlemen. All farmers accepted the scheme, but , as all middlemen are our countries cursed corrupt politicians, created ruckus, street meetings, agitations by emoying unscrupulous elements, resulting total unrest in the country. Whatever benefits government extended have been directly credited to each and every registered bonafide farmers account The countries corrupt politicians had planned to debacle the ruling government, as they felt, the ruling party have been successfully making things possible to benefit the public. Today opposition feels " FISH OUT OF WATER" , they fear if stringent action of ruling party continue ,oppositions existence is bleak. Due to middlemen for all farm produces continue, rates of products will sky rocket. We, the public are responsible for all deeds. Public should support and back up the government policy for a better tomorrow. more
How can the consumer ministry monitor what the cart vegetable vendor is charging for the vegetables? more
I just wanted to know as to whether tomato is an essential item, as our friend Mr Sudesh Rai mentioned ! more
Retail price of tomato as on date ranges from Rs.15 to Rs.20 a KG in many of our towns and cities. At my place, which is a state capital, the retail price is as illustrated. If one KG of the product is given at Rs.13 on whole sale in a farm, its retail price at Delhi, Mumbai or Bengaluru is supposed to go up three times after adding the cost of transportation, retailer's profit and recurring losses in weight and perishing of the product being highly perishable. India is a great country where price rise in tomato and onion is enough for change the government in the centre. Tomato is a seasonal vegetable and winter is the season for its cultivation. If we go 30 or 40 years back, the vegetable was being available only during its season for 3 to 4 months in a year and our kitchens were well managed for the remaining part of the year without tomato. However, in present days most of the vegetables, though seasonal, are available through out the year. But the unseasonal green vegetables do neither have their original test nor are they nutritious. more
It is true that major part of retail price is transportation, wastage, middlemen/mafia involved in the business of consumables. Same is the case of apples and potatoes etc. But in Chandigarh, farmers of nearby States are allowed to sell their produce in KISAN MANDIS every day but they also go by the rates fixed by the mafia and enjoy the benefits. more
