This is happening due to the deliberate inaction by the government departments which does anything other than help the consumer. 1. Information: The government can transparently put the import cost of medical devices on its website for imported goods and the excise information for local goods . This will help the customers know input costs. Provide certain guidelines or a code of conduct for the medical community. 2. Survey: Randomly collect billing information to ascertain the level of margin. 3. Prosecution: Need to provide more financial support & infrastructure to the Consumer Fora for speedier justice. The Department of Consumer Affairs should enhance the level of support to the Fora. more
