Every other information should be "private" except for what is given in the Aadhaar Card but with a proviso that any information in the Aadhaar Card must not be shared or passed on or leaked to any individual, authority, or used for any financial or other gains without prior specific information. Looking at the range of crime and technology available to the criminals, it is necessary also to have all the 15 details listed here to cross check the identity of a criminal where permission of a designated authority should be a must. more

I am very scared to share all such vital and important information which may compromise my safety , security and social standing including my relations and generations. I do not understand why every tom dick and harry should be requiring my such detailed information? Now days wherever I approach, they ask for copy of Aadhar card and nothing less. Getting SMS from all directions asking for Aadhar card copy. A panicky and chaotic situation is on the round. more
And yet we will share any and all this information with a travel agent if he says you need to provide this if you want a visa to ...... (name of any country richer than India!). Complete bank statements for six months, what countries you visited for the last 10 years, what is the password of your social media accounts ..... Every website we visit collects a huge amount of data from us, which tells them much more about us than the above few pieces of information can. I believe if a website claims to give us diagnosis by American doctors for USD 10, if we just upload our medical records, Indians will do just that. We will upload our DNA details if National Geographic announces a project for this (they did just that a couple of decades ago). People are being cheated online everyday, and are probably too ashamed to admit it, by the simplest of scamsters who only need a card number and a telephone number. They make purchases on the Internet using the card number, and call you asking for the OTP, claiming they are from the issuing bank, you give the OTP, and your money is gone. Just an example. No law can be framed to stop this! By joining the Internet world, we have already given up our privacy. There is much more to worry about this, but there is not much worry being shown by too many people! more
