PROFITEERING BY PRIVATE HOSPITALS :

Hospitals are also business establishments and are not charitable Institutions .They have to work for Profits no doubt , but not turn PROFITEERING .
This was exposed by the Chief of N.P.P.A [ National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority ] Allegation was to force the patients to buy from in house pharmacy at margins as high as 2000% . The result, the chairman within days was transferred without replacement . All India Drug Action Network says “we fear the transfer is due to pressure from Industry and corporate Hospital Lobbies “
This transfer due to pressure from Corporate Lobby shouldn’t be taken lying down . Alliance of Doctors for Ethical Health care [A.D.E.H. ] has questioned the Transfer . Hope he will be reinstated and lets await more such exposure .
TRANSFERS OF SUCH SENSITIVE POSTS SHOULDN’T BE AT THE WHIMS AND FANCIES OF THE GOVERNING DISPENSATION. more

Mr. Sanjay Sonar ,It is not bashing all Doctors alltogether . Ther are genuine ones too. For example a group of noble minded ones have the Alliance of Doctors for Ethical Health care [A.D.E.H. ] . Th organization consisting of doctors also wanted the transferred Chaiman of the N.P.P.A to be reinstated. The public and activists are targetting only the Balck shhep in the Noble profession. more
Anybody does anything for profit. This is basic human trait. The rest is window dressing. You and me or hospitals are no exception to this law. The new regulatory authority is meant to standardise these services. But still you cannot grudge them profits. If so free govt hospitals are available which are efficient too to treat disease. But comfort of bystander may take a hit. So take your pick, good luck. more
Commercializing Even Education was not permitted by S.C. in 1993 at the concept of restricting unnatural/abnormal Profiteering. Hospitals and Medicare also fall under the recognition of Human Essentials. There is absolute need to analyze the profit margin, Advertising Costs that have been increasing not only unreasonable % but also undue and lavish . There also a system of restricting/limiting Sale prices of many Products engaging Internal , Analysing Statutory Audit and , mandated performance of ICWA besides the usual Cost of product Analysis System to arrive at reasonable Sale Price . ALL THERE ARE NOT MERELY FOR COST ANALYSIS TO KEEP POSSIBLE HIGHEST PROFIT MARGINS . When the whole Industry including Agriculture is so managed, THE ISSUE OF PROFITEERING BY PRIVATE HOSPITALS OR EVEN THE PHARMACEUTICALS IS UNJUSTIFIED AND EVEN AGAINST TO THE POLICY OF RULE IN A COUNTRY . more
Have you seen price of a water bottle at airport? RS 50. This is after the govt order of selling at mrp.the manufacturers have increased MRP.now who is the culprit? Airport shops airport authorities? more
Doctor bashing had become fashionable The prices are fixed by industry and monitored by FDA Doctors prescribe, and can't and don't dictate prices Mind you ,in fixed budget patients of insurance, if my patients are paying more for drugs and less to me ,would I encourage overcharging? more
