Reducing waste generation
There is a huge opportunity to reduce waste generation at the intersection of Swachh bharat, clean air and consumer products that consumer affairs environment and urban ministry should work on.
See attached video where iceland has said NO to outerpackaging of toothpaste.
Lets do the same in India. I will create a petition here if all of you will support. Hoping govt will also pass a law then.

All the manufacturers should clearly mark whether the packing is biodegradable, or, reusable, or recyclable, or, hazardous.The users should segregate the wastes and place in different bins clearly marked as per the category. Biodegradable trash bags can be used for biodegradable wastes such as kitchen wastes. To the extent possible, we should reduce generation of waste. We should practice to reuse every item till it cannot be used anymore. Waste reduction is applicable not only for garbage, but also for utilities such as electricity, gas, water etc. Lights, fans, TV, AC etc. should be switched off when not required. more

Very good idea. It will reduce price also. Many products do not require any outer /costly packaging. I agree with you. more
