Reference Manesh Mohan's posting on Dish TV

Manish, please calm down.

Out 98 channels selected by you, only 73 will be your choice and remaining 25 will be mandatory DD Channels. If all 73 are FTA channels, your monthly bill will be Rs 153.00, all inclusive. 130 plus 18% gst. If your 73 includes paid channels, the monthly cost will go up. You say that your charge is shown as 290. Have you included any pay channels in your 73 and if yes, what is the total cost all paid channels? Add this extra cost to basic 130 and see if it works out to 290. If yes, they are right and your monthly bill b 290. If not, there is something wrong with their site and you are eligible for right adjustment.

All DTH guys have gone astray because the new TRAI rules gives Customers, the liberty of selecting only the channels we want and pay for the same. They are not only upset but in a confused manner and all they can do is try to confuse Customers. Honestly they do not know answers themselves. All these days, they have been expecting the deadline to be extended; they played all possible tricks but thanks to, TRAI, no postponement came in.

Do not be disturbed. This will turn out fine soon, though it may take some time. Talking to them will only add to our tension as they cannot provide any answers. Note that TRAI is strict when they advised DTH guys that there should be no 'Block Out' and your services cannot be blacked out for any reason.

My suggestion for you will be :-
1. Avoid talking to Customer Care.
2. Make a final list of 75 channels you want, on Computer/Laptop; mention the total cost of all channels at the bottom of the list; if no paid channels are included, then your cost will be only 130, otherwise, it will be 130 plus cost of all paid channels you have selected; now save it as mychannels.txt/doc etc. File name given is an example and you use any name of your choice.
3. Send an email to your DTH provider saying the channel selection screen on their web site is too cumbersome and confusing and because of that, you are sending a file containing the list of channels you desire, as an attachment. Add a line stating that the total price shown on their site is incorrect and tell them not charge you on that basis. End your email with a request to provide you channels strictly as per your list and do not forget to attach the file you have saved earlier, to this email before sending. Also request them to confirm receipt of your mail/suitable action is being initiated at their end.

Make sure that a copy the mail you had sent is safe on your computer and not deleted due to any reason. If needed, this will help you in making a complaint TRAI.

In case anything stated above is not clear, post your new queries. I will try and assist you. more

With the payment of minimum amount, as oer TRAI rules it will give Customers, the liberty of selecting only the free channels. But with the selection of paid channels, the bill will come around Rs. 300/-, which was till date available with Rs. 200/- plus. Who is gaining can be understood easily. more
If any one hate any particular channel, don't open it. No body can compell you to open and see that particular channel. As explained by Trai chief, 130+gst is the charges for operator to run, irrespective to the free channels you select or not. more
