Regarding AIRTEL

As my son mobile SIM port change requested about more than three months back. But till date it is not activated and no one of Airtel is going to resolve the problem and they are not at all respond to the customer. Many times approached the store of Airtel. But there is no action from them. Simply ignoring and kept quite and more over sends reply that they are on the process. As the number is : 9425320632 as it was the BSNL Sim and requested port change to Airtel . As the same number was registered with all of his bank accounts to which receives OTP for transactions. Kindly suggest help in this matter and number is activated soon. more

The process to Mobile number porting is as follows: 1. Send a message to 1900 as PORT (brackets are not to be included). 2. Within a few minutes you will receive a porting code. This porting code received is valid for 14 days only. After 14 days it expires. The message will mention the validity date. 3. Visit the outlet of the mobile service provider to whom you want to port the number. Fill in the form and provide them ID and address proof document. Also mention that you are doing a Mobile number porting and provide the porting code to them. Please note that porting process takes maximum 7 days. So before providing the code to the new operator please recheck that your portability code is valid for next 7 days. The best practice is to generate the code just before going to the new operator. 4. The new operator will provide you a sim card and will tell you approximate date of activation on their network. 5. Within the same day or next day you will receive a SMS telling you that your number has been submitted for porting and by when the number will be released. If you do not get the message by next day immediately approach the new operator and inform them. In your case since the matter is already 3 months old, you will have to generate a new porting code (Airtel cannot do anything in this) and immediately approach Airtel (or any other operator) for a new connection. I have already ported multiple connections at my home successfully and never faced a problem. more
Thanks for the detailed reply. It is useful for me as I am going to change BSNL to idea. more
My suggestion is write a letter to TRAI with copies to Chief General Manager of the circle of BSNL and airtel. Another option is change the mobile No with Bank etc which can be done online without much trouble. However BSNL is the cheapest which will deduct Rs.6/- PM only against Airtel Rs.23/- for 28 days and vodafone Rs.24/- for 28 days. more
I think the problem is being created by BSNL. Have you received any porting code from BSNL. Was this code given to Airtel. The new service provider are very fast in getting the number ported on their network. But BSNL does not cooperate. You email a complaint to BSNL if they have not sent a code. If code is received, then Airtel is at fault. more
Airtel normally replay their mail in 2/3 days time. Most of the time i got +ve replay. more
You have to contact BSNL. There is a special no. of BSNL on which you have to send request by SMS for Port of your no.. you can get this special no. on BSNL website. BSNL will send a code for Portability if it accept your request for Portablility . This Code of BSNL you have to give the Airtel Dealer. Then Airtel will complete portability process within seven Days. more
