Retailors charging for carry bags despite ruling by the Chandigarh Consumer Forum

Chandigarh Consumer Forum had very recently directed the Bata Company not to charge for carry bags to their customers. But despite this ruling, the retailors and vendors in Hyderabad are very boldly fleecing their customers by levying anywhere up to to Five rupees for carry bags, that too with the advertisement of the retailor printed on both sides of the bags. Just today ie., 16.04.2019, I had visited the VIJETHA SUPERMARKETS PVT LTD, Ratna Arcade, Kompally, NH44, SECUNDERABAD 500100, at around 8.30pm to purchase groceries. The salesperson asked me to pay Rs.3/- for the carry bag. When I pointed out the ruling of the Consumer Forum of Chandigarh, she only smiled expressing her helplessness. I refused to take the bag because this is a multi crore scam that has been going on in Hyderabad with the connivance of the concerned officers of the Government. I had several times raised the matter in the Local Circles but did not get any encouraging response from the members. Now that the Chandigarh Consumer Forum has given clear directions to the Bata Company not to charge their customers for the carry bags, I request members to raise their voice against this multi crore scam by retailors all over the country, particularly in Hyderabad and the rest of the Telangana, as I know it.
The details of my cash receipt are as follows:
VIJETHA SUPERMARKETS PVT LTS, Ratna Arcade, Kompally, NH44, SECUNDERABAD 500100, PH:9100072137, GST IN:36AACCV7550P1Z0, Dt:16.04.2019, Bill:00000093
It is time the consumers in India unite to denounce this kind of cheating by the retailors which they have been indulging for the past few years. Just calculate and see how many multi crores are being fleeced from the customers on an hour to hour basis. The Local Circles should take up the matter seriously and present the issue to the Chief Minister of Telangana, to take immediate action. No more cheating please. more

They are intelligent enough use every aspect to their profit. In the name of environmental requirements the use of plastic is required to be reduced and that issue is used by these people to profit from that too. They plastic bags which were provided free, are now being sold. Tha loss of free bags is reduced and started earning from the sale of plastic bags. Some shops are charging for paper bags too. They know how to convert everything into profit and our agencies are as usual ignorant of all these things. Mera bharat mahan and acche din ayenge. more
most of brand retailer like relience, Dmart, bigbazar etc are charges for bags everywhere from Rs. 3 to 5. more
This practice of fleecing the customer for carry bags is foul and profiteering. Ever since the government had declared that plastic bags need to be charged the traders and restaurants and large department stores are making money from the poor consumer. A vegetable vendor gives cloth like bags free of charge whilst Dorabjee, Westside, LifeStyle, the restaurant Gallops charge for bags. Again I say it is the government's fault. If plastic bags were not to be used, why sell them in the first place. Why the double standards. People who used to give free plastic bags are now charging customers for newspaper bags!! It is the high end shops and restaurants who are following this practice and I say we should all get together and stop it. more
As I understand, the Consumer Forum has penalised Bata for charging the Bag, which contains the name "Bata" and indirectly it is a mode of advertisement. more
Dear Prabhakar, may we request to get guidance from the NATIONAL HELP LINE FOR THE CONSUMERS @ 1600 11 4000?Meanwhile, make hard copies of the purchase related papers and attach them to your complain(G D) with the LOCAL POLICE STATION.If you have patience and some spare time, you will get over these retailers who only believe in selling their PRODUCTS and leave the buyers stranded .WE MUST KEEP ON FIGHTING ON THESE ISSUES TILL THERE WOULD BE AN ATMOSPHERE WHERE ANY TRADER WILL THINK TWICE before cheating ANY CUSTOMER. We hope that the CONSUMER GRIEVANCE CELL OF THE CENTRAL GOVERNMENT of India wake up,take notice of all these correspondences and sent stern warning to them. With regards.
