RO needs to be replaced

A drawback of using RO water purifiers is excessive wastage of water. An average RO purifier wastes approximately 3 litres of water for every 1 litre of purified water. With every house having an RO, imagine the waste. Why purification technology not be improved and SAVE WATER more

Over-purification could be RO problem. Another instance of perfection replacing a more optimised solution where the water was cleaned according to the purpose, for example if one is making tea, then better start making the beverage, after sterilising through boiling normal water. Wastage cause by RO water purifiers may be saved by harvesting water. more
Domestic RO systems in municipal area must be totally banned, in in the national interest . Wastage of domestic water means wastage of cost of purification, wastage of pumping, distribution, etc. more
I have not found any content suggesting RO filter for municipal water supply in the resource. Perhaps Water supplied may be used through non-mechanical water filters including conventional methods. As a process itself, RO has a lot of wastage and there must be design changes to circulate/ recirculate that water once again. After all, the waste water is certainly not infected. more
Ansariji you correctly replied. It is true RO not required for piped municipal water. It needs purification and thereafter boiling, because, the municipal pipe lines passes through slushy, open drains etc. Once again Ansariji, you shared very informative message. more
First of all please understand that RO is nothing but marketing game to put fear of tapped water . Earlier we were told about simple water filters, electric based water filters of various kinds. Now fear among common people is at such high level that everyone is trying to install RO at home, office and business place. Basically RO is not required for piped water supplied by municipalities. RO is required for wel/borewel water which may contain high amount of salt, silicates or other impurities. Even after processing water through RO a certain amount of natural minerals and salt are added. Continuous use of untreated RO water is extremely harmful in long run. Water is tested by TDS content, details are available on net. Please check. People living in metropolitan cities where pipes potable water is supplied by corporations should avoid RO at all cost. A simple water filter is enough. As far as wastage is concerned waste water can be used in garden, flush, car wash etc. But at all cost RO should be avoided for health reason. more
