SBI credit card rewards redemption issue

I am facing problems in redeeming a reward (an iPhone SE) as advertised in their consumer website. I am getting varied excuses and reasons each time from SBI’s customer care representatives for their inability to fulfill my redemption claim. This is even after the SBI customer care representative in one of their call confirming arrangements having been made and a date by which the product will be delivered to me.

The different excuses each time they called me on this issue, varied from:
(a) product in ‘their records’ being different from what is displayed and advertised as available on their consumer website;
(b) having to wait for release of iPhone 7 before getting the iPhone SE available to me;
(c) reward being unavailable for redemption claim; to
(d) product not available with the merchant.

Would like to know your thoughts on this please and let me know whether there are any ways of redress….. will approaching the consumer court help…?...

This is more from a perspective of principle that I seek a redress considering that this being a leading nationalized bank in India and consumers are always taken for a ride alluring them…..despite the bank always gaining from the consumers.

Thank you.... more

Credit Cards are the most profitable business for Banks these days. All Banks follow most un-ethical practices to woo customers and once they get customers, they are dumped. We must stop patronising unnecessary credit cards, do not collect more cards because of special offers. There is nothing like 'free lunch'. Apart from problems of rewards, credit cards are prone to serious frauds, hence do not get trapped with the offers they make. Banks do not care about victims of frauds, they just ignore and keep on following up for payments - though debits come through reported frauds. Let us try and avoid bankrupt status. Banks are more happier when we delay payments as they are interested in collecting penalty. Delayed payments attract interest of close to 50% per annum (about 3.5% per month). more
These are the market gimmick they wanted to play so that you will get fed-up and some person inside the bank can claim the same. Give them the written ultimatum preferably to their CEO/MD else approach to the media with request to publicize the matter widely so that other customers and society at large will get alerted. more
SBI - Should have control on their Customer data, In No Case Such DATA should be transferred or Utilized by the SBI service Provider. If So- SBI should pay to Customer for their Data Use. Details of CREDIT CARD provided by SBI is not proper, they should be more transparent in explaining the CREDIT details and installments. more
sbicards need to have specific phone numbers from which sbicards contact customers. cheaters too have call centers and their numbers also appear in true caller id as sbicards. when they call verification or authentication information is asked, when we do not know confidently who is the caller its difficult to share information. if the numbers of SBICARD, from which they call the customers, are specified we can confidently share information. otherwise we doubt every call more
