Service Charge Form Design

This service charge issue needs to be handled with a bit more detailed approach.

I suggest we design a format that becomes must implement by Consumer Affairs for all restaurant/hotels. thought below:

1) Restaurant bills the customer and presents the bill.
2) In bill at bottom at the bottom is proposed service charge asking Thank us for good service by paying a service charge (Yes, No) Box
3) Consumer has option to check
4) Bill generated as per consumer preference.

I have been to many restaurant where I didnt want to pay service charge of 10% as it amounted to 300-500 rupees for group dinner. I still paid 50-150 as cash tip before leaving.

Dept of Consumer Affairs - what is the latest on this. Hope you get closure on this. more  
What is Depts stand. Are you in view of eliminating service charge or making it optional? Being clear will help consumer and way forward more  
What ever the charges and cost need to be added in MRP/Price. Tips should be optional. Tax should be calculated by Hotel/Restaurants and pay accordingly. Please make it simple and understandable to common man. more  
I agree with Shri Aniruddha Naik. A tip pais by a customer depends on among many things including the satisfaction he feels of being served at the time. Since satisfaction is not quantifiable no fixed charge can be k[levied for it. Hotels/restaurants should not levy and should not be permitted add service charges to the cost of bills. more  
Atleast this is balanced view than just eliminating it. more
