Service Providers share information

Now a days there are a bunch of these companies that claim to provide various services like physiotherapy, beauty, ac repair etc. problem is that most of them end up sharing consumers information with a whole bunch of vendors. Here is this company urban clap sharing with vendors a customers paying capability.

The reason I am sharing this is that can dept of consumer affairs please form some rules about how customer information should be handled by companies. Right now its a free for all. more

I applied for a SBI credit card in the first week of December 2017. I have yet to receive the card because the courier boy did not hand it over when I refused to furnish him with identification, since this had already been given to the bank and he was only expected to deliver the mail to the addressee and get an acknowledge, not demand identification like PAN card. I am receiving now several messages and blank calls from unknown sources, like builders advertising for flats and plots, and the numbers are invalid numbers as well and cannot be blocked. Isn't SBI flouting banking law and practice by sharing my information with such marketing persons? How do they get away with such nonsense? L.Kalavathi Retd. Courier boy rightly refused to handover the card in absence of ID. This is in your own safety. more
Pls raise this up to SBI credit card division they will surely take action. You may use #SpeakUp App which has all the brands under one umbrella. Download now: bit.ly/speakup-in more
The courier buy rightly demanded proof of ID so as to ensure that the card is being delivered to right person. There is nothing wrong in this demand of courier boy.
2. How do you know the information has been shared by SBI about your phone numbers. Many a times we ourselves share our own information knowingly or unknowingly. You can always block telemarketers numbers or may be register you number with NCPR for not receiving the telemarketing calls or even selectively choose the sector or industry on which you want to receive telemarketing calls. more
I had also undertaken service from Urban Clap whom I found through google search. Unfortunately their technician who came visiting advised us that it would be futile to get the washing machine repaired as the gears & clutch assembly(surprisingly the washing machine is a car without wheels) need to be replaced and with just a small investment over and above, we could get a branded Washing machine with Guarantee. We had to pay the technician the visit fee but since then I also have been inundated by mails and messages. Thanks Pragati Ji for opening my eyes to the conspiracy of sharing...not just Urban Clap as she rightly mentioned in subject line, it is a Free for all in current scenario. more
This is an indication of employment saturation. But at the same time we face shortages of plumbers, carpenters, electricians, masons, gardeners etc. The way out is skill developments. Our education system is to blame. We have engineers who don’t know the basics. Such people are reluctant to take any manual job and always dream of white colour job and develop such business strategies and laterlands into trouble. Yes,we must be conscious. more
I think you mean white collar job and not white colour job.

Most of these company are actually fraud. Even if they don't share customer information with others they do not have any reliable system to cross check background and ability of technicians they send for work. Others earn money by selling customer information to other. A person should take utmost care before handing over confidential information to these websites. more
Be cautious from these types of frauds. more
