Standards for pulse oximeters
A lot of made in china pulse oximeters that cost 500 there are selling for 3000 in India online and offline. Earlier they were 1500 in India.
Does BIS have any standards for oximeters??

BIS is under ministry of consumer affairs, but it will make and implement standards which are not for products of every day use by fellow citizens but industrial products. Any item of every day use will not have a relevant current standard by BIS or any implementation , This is how these people earn money from such businesses. Anything on toothpaste, tooth brush, what to talk about Oximeters more

I dont know if BIS has standards but noone follows the standards - they have standards for masks and still you have a lot of 'fake masks' made in India and around the World. They have standards for helmets and people get angry when Police stops them for not wearing ISI approved ones (main approval standard for BIS also). I am angry because I think most of the blame goes to us consumers - we dont research, we dont spend more than 2 secs at any shop ... Most people will not have the patience to even see these many words. Basically - I remember an English movie I saw years ago - story was that American society is becoming dumber, I think we all (including me) - in all countries are becoming dumber and more reliant on 'convenience'. Human Race (including India) has for many years run on God's mercy - now also we are doing that. I mean the amount of 'low quality', 'fake stuff' in the West should prove what I am saying. I mean people who can exercise also havent done. Now we will 'mass vaccinate' kids - its amazing how 1 or 2 days after CDC advisory was that Kids could be affected, Pfizer had a vaccine for kids !! I hope to God 'mass vaccination' for us and for kids is not a mistake -if it is, we humans dont deserve a 2nd chance. more

Inspite of knowing poor quality and unreliability still people go for Chinese goods, that too in health sector. We also never learn more

Can we make them understand? If someone imported it from China it is with the knowledge of the Government. So why ask the government to set standards? more
