State Bank of India

While all of us use this platform LOCAL CIRCLES to went our ire against the system, let me narrate my experience with SBI, which I hope all of us have to admire and applaud.

My son in law lost 15 Lakhs from his account, because his trustworthy assistant turned otherwise; stole 2 cheque leaves and transferred 15 Lakhs to his own SB A/c, then withdrew the amount in cash and disappeared.

On perusal of the cheque, it was evident it had a forged signature and even the words "fifteen" was written as fivety.
After complaints with police and with higher ups in Bank, 15 Lakhs is credited to his account by the Bank.

Is this not an incident to be admired? more

I have no other go except to approach the court of law directing the CBI to initiate criminal action against the SBI (SME), Old MLA quarters Branch and SBI RACP-3, Musheerabad, Hyderabad and also against the CVO and other staff who colluded together to protect the erred bank officials. Now a days the clearing of cheques are done centrally at Chennai and through photo of the cheque. Sometime the staff of security press are also presenting cheques by getting one or two leaves of your cheque book. It is therefore essential that the SMS received from Banks needs to be checked regularly. more  
I would not admire but bank officials do need to be appreciated for realising their mistake. But on the other hand this small loss to Bank will continue to be liability of other customers of State Bank of India. I would definitely admire the whole system if the thief/cheat is caught and penalised after due recovery of funds. more
