Strange sales ethics from Dyson....

It happened yesterday.

We ordered a Dyson air purifier. The man who came with the product was, as is natural, asked to set up the piece and show that it functions.

But this man wanted the payment first before even opening the box. I found this strange. I declined to make the payment first.

The boy consulted with his salesman, who in turn
consulted his manager.

Result was that they took the piece back.

Suppliers of refrigerators, airconditioners, washing machines, dish washers, water heaters etc. etc. NEVER ask for payment before installation.

Questions:

What would you have done as buyer ?

Is the buyer ethics wrong and the seller ethics right ?
OR
Is the buyer ethics right and the seller ethics wrong ? more

Immagin the plight of online buyers .As you order you pay just by the description of the article from cloths shoes to a variety of Consumer ware to consumer durables. Online traders do accept complaints & send their Maintanance Personnel promptly . Some have been decent enough to replace the whole equipment , some settle only for part change and so on . There are lots of complaints about such comming now and then . Though it is said that it is a competitive market , the Customers are shown demonstration with a model at the show Room and then only after payment is made , they open a new pack of the item if you insist . In the event of not being satisfactory with the item dueto effect , the replacement is possible subject to avilability of the model at the Show room , and the Godown . It is a big wait and tension after paying for the Consumer . DEAR CIRCLE MEMBERS IT IS JUST LIKE THE RAIL PASSENGER PAYS THE AMOUNT TO IRCTC EXPECTING A DESIRED BERTH AND LANDING UP ELSEWHERE. The Customers in India should not be bull dozed by traders. more
In India after sales service is very poor and our laws protect the seller. In US you can return the product with in 3 months if there is any issue. Why can't Govt make similar laws in India. more
In this competitive market era, consumers have a right to pay only for a product which is true in every sense of the shared information about it. For this if Mr.Rathi has asked for a Demo, it is his right. Dyson would die a natural death if they don't improve customer friendly work ethics. more
It is not strange, as payment is to be made at the time of purchase. The mechanic has to instal and in case of any defect, it should be under warranty. more
You are right they must install and give demo before payment. more
