Surge pricing.. Uber is cheating people
I wish to bring this to the notice of all members how Uber cabs is cheating people with the so called 'Surge pricing'. I was told by a driver of Uber that they are charging 40% extra from morning 8 am to midnight from Dasserah to Deepavali, and this is likely to be extended up to New Year day 2018. Who has allowed them to charge so arbitrarily? This is nothing but outright cheating and exploitation. It appears that the Government authorities whose responsibility is to protect the interests of the people are themselves involved. Otherwise such blatant irregularity cannot take place.
I call upon all members to participate in a discussion on the following points and put pressure on the Government to immediately withdraw the very system of surge pricing from not only cabs but also from the Airlines and the Railways:
1. Surge pricing is nothing but a way of exploiting people. It amounts to robbing the citizens.
2. Irrespective of what the profit oriented economists may say it is unfair to charge extra when the service provided is the same.
3. The very system of Surge pricing should be declared unlawful all over the country.
4. Levying uniform charges on a particular service irrespective of demand and supply condition is ethically the right thing to do; it does not lead to any loss to the companies, rather it will improve their business on the long run. more

Even in the west such loot is not allowed under any circumstances. Such things are allowed to happen only in India where the concerned authorities are submerged in the deep sea of corruptions compelling to become silent spectators of such plundering of the multinational companies. more

In a socialistic democracy the need for variation in fixed prices of fares either in Uber,Ola, train,bus ,taxi is not there .Surge pricing even in airlines are not correct .They must look in to the welfare of population fix a reasonable pricing system for all types of travel modes and all seasons.The central govt and state govts are contributing to this chaotic loot in the name of healthy competition.India need not copy every thing from west. more

Even I do agree with Mr Prabhakar and request all members to come up to take up a call on Uber & Ola cab services. My experience with this cos. on road is worst they are not at all bothered about lane discipline and make traffic an havoc in peak hours in Mumbai city. And dear Mr. Deepak Shroff here the discussion is not on cheap or expensive we are discussing about the discipline of this cos. whether it comes for fare or driving on road by their cab drivers. more

No I m fully agree as nobody even govt. Is not authorized to charge such exorbitant price.only they can stop free riding service. more
