Tax & Trade Departments of the States have got to call

I have noticed that some of the Corporate Houses have already advised their dealers and distributors to pass on the complete GST reduction to consumers. However, the retail market being a State issue, the Tax & Trade Departments of the States have got to call a meeting of the retailers to firmly tell them to pass on the tax reduction to consumers.

I also take this opportunity of bringing up the issue with the States' Departments of Consumers to activate their services so that they not only appear to be working in the interests of consumers, but actually work in that direction. This particular issue should have been taken up by the States' Consumer Affairs Departments with their counterparts in the Trade & Taxes Departments.

Further, any recoveries made by the Trade & Taxes Departments from the retailers on account of overcharge or extra-charge, the money should be deposited in the CWF maintained by the Consumer Affairs Department being belonging to unidentifiable consumers. In fact the States' Consumer Affairs Department should bring about such changes in the Rules of CPA 1986. more

The Center has "given" reduction in GST, and shouted over the rooftops, while having just reduced on one hand, and cut off input GST credit to sellers. Now they are going around blaming States & so called "cheating" sellers. When they tell you something, they never tell you the whole truth. more  
The blame should go to central government for lack of foresigntness. There has been virtually no action against the traders, who defy the GST rules. more  
With all due respect to the individuals and offices, the state machineries are useless. Most of the stores in my place do not even issue bills. they give only estimate slips. If we think that the local tax officials are not aware then we are not in sync with reality. involving the local state machinery will be of no use. more  
Where is consumer affairs dept.???? Bureaucrats are least interested to act in public interest as there is accountability or result oriented promotion policy - all that they have to do is to pander to political bosses and rest can go to hell. Nothing has changed for common man after Modi Govt. having come to office. more  
Traders are used to indulge in malpractices habitually. They still don't understand that by not passing on GST benefits to public, they are harming their own interests. Because the market will move to Etrade. Restaurants can not be controlled, because the money is there with the Public. But there also Thela - Stalls are very successful and doing roaring business. Accept Elite and a few conscious people, nobody bothers about hygiene etc. Accept the ground realities and get more Votes. more
