USE OF WATER HAS DRASTICALLY INCREASED DUE TO DETERGENTS USE

Friends,
God's greatest gift to human race, animals, plants, flowers, insects, water is a NECTAR of LIFE, WHICH NO MONEY CAN BE EQUATED WITH.
Since the development and research, scientist found out a new composition for clothes /laundry washing as well as many toiletries products. The DETERGENTS, liquid or powder , as well as shampoo, hand wash, etc; since last century, using highly alkaline base products that is made from using linear alkyl benzene (LAB), alfa -olefins, and other similar products derived from petroleum products after long process.

All must have observed that while washing clothes with even after washing if one again with plain water one will find lot of foam comes on the surface, to remove 100% detergent free clothes it needs lot of water.

Similarly, the hand wash liq. shampoo etc; requires lot of water compared to the traditionally made soap, needed less water.

Though, detergents have many advantages over traditionally made soaps.

Another , health hazard is the increase in skin related problems due to the residues on skin. That i s why now neutral hand wash and shampoos have come to the market which can be easily removed compared to highly alkaline products.

The main issue of consumption and wastage of water, how can we save water.Besides the water going into the drain also pollute the ponds, farms rivers etc; and needs urgent attention towards it. Due to the above , overall, the consumption of water has drastically increased besides the population, by using such products.
I don't know any govt regulations are there andany advisory ever issued by the govt.to regulate the detergent industry, which has become like a home industry.
The nation has to take up the warning bell. more

This is partially true. As I feel, the major reasons for increase in the usage of water in every households, particularly in cities & towns are (i) use of washing machines. A fully automatic washing machine needs minimum 110 litres of clean water to give a single wash. One could find a washing machine in majority of houses (ii) Air coolers - a medium size air cooler does have a water tank of 40 to 60 litres and to run it 24 hours requires at least 3 tanks of water in summer and in present days even a cycle rickshaw puller has at least one air cooler in his house (iii) modern toilets - most of our toilets are now fitted with modern gadgets, such as, bath tub, shower, commode, all of which need at least double of the water needed by our old systems (iv) plant tubs - the trend of gardening in tubs due to paucity of space in the majority of the houses has increased several times during last decade or last 15 years, which also need good quantity of water excepting 2 or 3 months of rainy season, if there is enough rain. All of these are jointly or severely responsible for drastic increase in water requirements & use. more
Good thought, How to avoid it. more
Thanks, it is not simply a thought but based on scientific studies.,to avoid it needs lot of efforts and change the mindset of people. You must have seen many advertisements by the washing machines manufacturers, stating there is a water saver mode. and recycle mode, but we are not at that luxury i our country that each and every house hold has washing machines. Almost 90% must be still washing it manually by self or made servants.

But that also creates other hazards damaging the skins in palm , feets etc: what about the laudaries they also use lot of washing powder. Hence there is no ready and easy solution or alternate to avoid use of synthetic detergents.

These detergents can work in hard water also.

The only alternative at the moment is to use conservatively such detergents, hand wash, face wash and also similar other cosmetics. more
Before letting the new product in market, the government authorities should check and give clearance. Same case like plastic bags. First we allow and the realise. more
I used to ask Dhabi to give ash for washing utensils For past 10 years, even he has switched to electricity Raakh is best for utensils. Avoid liquid soaps for utensils. The particles which remains are harmful to health because we're cooking in same utensils. Use ubtan, home made face packs and avoid face washes which are foamy, no doubts and they are bad for skin in the long run. more
But where will you get ash (rakh) of enough quantity from? In earlier days it was coming from house hold kitchens as most house holds were using wood as fuels for cooking foods. As of now, more than 90% of them, particularly in cities & towns are using gas or electricity as fuel for cooking. Even in rural areas, LPG is replacing the other kinds of fuels. Hence there is no point in talking about using of ash. In older days people were using ash even to brush their teeth in the morning, which is now treated as health hazard. more
yes ash-Rakh is best and also germs free because it is produced at a very high temp. more
