Used non-functioning Dell machine given

My friend, Jajijt Bhattacharya, bought a Dell 3148 Inspiron 3000 laptop on Monday Feb 15th, for his daughter's birthday.

However, the WiFi stopped working on Tuesday night. He tried to enable it and search through the net to fix it but it seems to be a problem plaguing many laptops of this make.

More disappointingly, on checking out the backside of the laptop, it turned out it was full of scratches that could not come if the laptop isnt pre-used.

The Dell support centre flatly refused to either fix the laptop or replace it or take the dealer to task for selling a laptop that is clearly preused. The dealer himself is obviously refusing to even talk.

Would really appreciate if Dell would resolve the matter. It is quite unacceptable to face such a response from the Dell ecosystem for a laptop that is purchased 3 days ago.

On Behalf of my friend -

First of all send an email giving all details of your purchase, attach a scan copy of Invoice. (Never handover original receipt) to Dell Corp. You can approach them through their website. Copy this email to all social media sites and give name and address of Dealer, it is very important to highlight Name and Address of Dealer. Contact Consumer Forum of your district. Consumer forums. But in all cases you have to highlight the name and address of Dealer who sold you the Laptop. You didn't mention name and address of the dealer in your complaint here. It the dealer who committed crime. more
Advisable to opt for Consumer Forum as well as Criminal Complaint of Cheating. more
1. Use all possible social media to highlight your travails and inflict heavy damages on the business of the dealer and Dell as well. 2. Consider to lodge a police complaint against the dealer for fraud and cheating by giving you a perused laptop for a new purchase. 3. Rate both the entities in the local circle. 4. Approach consumer forum with your grievances. more
Yes. You must write to Customer service centre, all social media, name of the dealer and the company--all in bold letters so that people are aware of these cheats and would think hundred times before going to that dealer. In that case the dealer or the company goes in to loss which no dealer can afford to. more
File a Consumer case against the dealer and also the DELL company immediately , otherwise, I know, these companies are like sharks and will harass you to no end. Also, post this case on the Facebook , Twitter etc. so that every consumer becomes cautious of such unfair trade practice by the Dell company and the party who sold the lap top. more
