Vaccination - scam or sham

Forget the pricing of the vaccine.
In March, we were easily able to book appointments for our first shot for the same day . This month, the cowin app never shows the current date, shows only the next dates. Even then, it shows as NA or Booked.
I have been trying to find out day in (4am) day out ( upto 11pm) to find out if the slots are open. But it never shows as open.
Possibilities:
- Govt knows they have made a thundering blunder by opening up the slots for 18-44. This is a coverup ((purposely introduced issue) in the app to hide their failure.
- Vaccines are being diverted to corporates and influential and rich apartment complexes for a consideration.
- influential people and VIPs and VVVIPs
working with centres to do private bookings (the centres have access to booking)
- Techies are blocking the slots through hacking (as mentioned in one of the posts by a fellow member) for a consideration, either for themselves or their knowns or "others", since the code is available publicly.
- data entry of availability for a date, the vaccine type, the address, pincode etc. is done by the respective center. There is no check on the data either at the center or by the app. Whatever crap is entered into the system, the cowin app vomits out.
Probably, there are more unknowns.
If this booking fiasco is specific to Bangalore/Bangalore South/Padmanabhan and family, I have no clue.
Today, the govt says "Vaccines will be available in the next 3 days..also, the caseload in Bengaluru has come down to 50 per cent from 76 per cent..(????).". But, if the app does not allow the common contactless citizen to book a slot, what is the use. more

Most of the points are useless and politically motivated. In early days there were extreme vaccine hesitancy with whatapp doctorates researching on it's pros and cons. Now with 'nothing will happen to us' attitude has proven fatal and the opposition is asking why 200 crore vaccine doses are not ready in 1 month time- silly. Vaccine for below 45 are only due to political pressure and Doctors for their professional interest. No point in blaming Central Govt. for everything- the latest fashion as if all goods are for respective state Govts and all bads are for center. I got the FREE vaccine in Gurgaon Govt clinic on 1st day without any problem, any queue, any money, any backing- just because I believed in scientists. more

Sirji, I am a common man with no political affiliations or motivation. I am stating the problem which many of us are facing with the app (not with the politicians of the app) and trying to think of what could be the possible causes. You are lucky to have got your shots free. I want to take a paid shot so that the free shot can be given to someone who cannot afford a paid shot.
Before replying, read the post, think and DO NOT ASSUME.. more
Most of the people in the age group of 18-45yrs appear indiscipline and do not care to follow SOP against Covid virus. Even after vaccination a few of them, risk of Covid spread would not ease but put life of older people in danger. more
First things the Opening up of 18 + has nothing to do with vaccine shortage. The 45+ vaccines are provided by the centre, who did not plan at all. The 18+ vaccines need to be procured & managed by the states on their own. So there is no comparison. There is all round mis management more
Government succumbed to the pressure from opposition and doctors and opened the vaccination for all adults resulting in mess. Cowin app is not designed to sustain such a pressure. Reckoning the production capacity of vaccine by 2 manufacturers and the indian population, government should have continued vaccinating only 45 plus as it is done by other countries too. Private hospitals are not given vaccine for the last 20 days atleast in Maharashtra. In fact I got the 1st jab at a private hospital and 2nd from a camp run by local body. So walk-in is the best source. By vaccination, even if affected, it will be mild and treatable & will not be succumbed but for other complications. Further, we must follow appropriate covid behaviour, may be for the rest of our life to flaten covid victim curve. So people must be responsible and not to blame the government. more
