WEWELLCOM PATANJALI AYURVED's ACTION

The Brompton cocktail, sometimes called Brompton mixture and most popularly known as Brompton cough mixture, was originally developed at a hospital specializing in chest diseases. This cough mixture was a combination of opiates, alcohol, and chloroform, designed to suppress cough, reduce pain, and induce sleep. The secret ingredient was warm water, which was added to the concoction to induce bronchodilation and expectoration.

The days of such preparations in clinics, along with practices resembling Voodooism and witchcraft, were nearly wiped out in India by the 1960s. The Indian pharmaceutical industry excelled in manufacturing both allopathic and Ayurvedic preparations in factories adhering to GMP standards. Ayurveda, known for its herbal remedies in healthcare, remains prominent. Many chemical substances like codeine, morphine, and cannabinoids are extracted and processed from plants such as opium and cannabis (hashish).

In the early 1960s and 1970s, reputable companies like Himalaya and Charak Pharmaceuticals were already manufacturing Ayurvedic products. However, as commercialization and greed infiltrated the industry, medical ethics were often compromised to exploit the sick and hypochondriacs. Aggressive advertisements with tall claims became the norm, generating significant profits for companies, advertisers, and models. If such indiscreet business practices had the support of the ruling dispensation, official agencies would rarely intervene.

Fortunately, a high-profile case brought to court resulted in a judgment that aimed to protect the public from misleading practices. This judgment highlighted the importance of ethical marketing and regulation in the healthcare industry. more

Patanjali withdrawn adverisements? Today's 21.07.2024, Daily Pioneer!! Misleading ad!! more
Somehow for all the accusations levelled upon Patanjali, their defense has been very lukewarm. They should have published a detailed write up about their medicines and products to let know the people the truth. Their silence is baffling. All that they have done is to reply to the Court and very little information is available in the Public domain. Have any benefitted people spoken up for them?. All that is available is the common people feedback telecast on Sanskar TV. I think the Management of the activity has been very sloppy. more
With 150 crore population and growing we all need instant healing , better India should ban Ayurveda and switch to only the most powerful allopathic medicines( w/o any legal implications on pharamas /doctors , druggists ) and whoever uses ayurveda is at its own risks more
One Man's Cough(expectorant) could be another man's dough expectorant. Usually people used to get a high with Codeine...during the early 80's...hostelites used to get Phensydyl...I used to call it Fancy Drill...one 100 ml bottle used to give stressful sleep...but then with every vice...addiction...the evil poison ivy...I don't know how many got habituated and how many chucked it but it was among the first batch of cough syrups with codeine which was banned. more
