WHERE WILL THE CONSUMER APPEAL WHEN A COMPANY OWNED BY GOVERNMENT SELLS PRODUCTS OVER AND ABOVE THE

MARKED MRP :
This is regarding the liquor sales in Tamil Nadu by The Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC) a company owned by the Government of Tamil Nadu, WHICH HAS A MONOPOLY OVER WHOLESALE AND RETAIL VENDING OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES IN THE INDIAN STATE OF TAMIL NADU. IT CONTROLS THE INDIAN MADE FOREIGN LIQUOR (IMFL) TRADE IN THE STATE.

The actual goings on has been reported a couple of times in the news. One such is attached. And without Bill. That is selling over and above the MRP, that too by a Government owned company. Many a citizen will not mind it goes to the Government Treasury , but after accounting. Will it not be a bad example for the other Greedy traders to do in every commodity.

The Statutory Warning “ Consumption of Alcohol is injurious to Health. Stay safe - Don’t Drink and Drive ” is there in each label. Yet it is sold . These come under the Legal Drugs. Possession or consumption isn’t an offence as long as there is no ruckus created .Consumer affairs takes up the matters pertaining to many other commodities and get redressed to the satisfaction of the consumers. Why cant it also take a look into this Please. more

MRP must be implemented strictly. Another thing is Fixing of MRP itself. Who so ever is doing, it should be done Judiciously. more
MRP Intentions/ Rules are good to protect the consumers, provided a proper well oiled machinery/mechanism is in place. In absence any such mechanism no amount of rule/regulation may not work for its intended purpose. The consumer is always at receiving end. more
Over charging is crime and action should be taken immediately. more
The govt itself allowing its outlets to sell over MRP sets a bad example to people. How can it expect the common man to follow the rules when itself is flouting rules? Why not Courts take suo moto action on the Secretary of the state department concerned.? more
