Department of Consumer Affairs

This is a vitally important area for the citizens, and though some important initiatives have been taken, much more still needs to be done to prevent undue exploitations of the people of the country.

Consumer protection almost doesn't exist - whatever, there is consumer courts take years to even just hear a case; let alone justice.

The ministry needs to work hard. So many items are sold without MRP.
Alcoholic beverages seller never gives bill in Mumbai even if we ask for it.It means the whole of liquor business is cash business - and Modiji is advocating less cash economy. Governments own departments are asking for cash payments at times!
So many items are sold open - no seals, this is rampant in cosmetics and perfumery business and many other areas.
If the ministry insists on packaged items, packaging industry wll get a boost, jobs will be created, printing work will increase, economy will get a boost - but all we get is lip service.
