FLOOD CONTROL – Solution

Every year various parts of our country face floods during rainy season. This year floods were more severe. Since independence many proposals were submitted to Government which included River Linking program.
What needs to be done:
1.0 Rain water is a very precious commodity and needs to be conserved.
2.0 Rain water harvesting should be done all over the country. This will prevent precious rain water being wasted and make water available for use later.
3.0 A study needs to be done for various areas of our country to understand the magnitude of problem and suggest possible solutions.
4.0 Government may consider assigning these studies to IITs. There are 23 IITs in various parts of country.
5.0 Grants may be given to IITs for conducting Flood Control Studies.
6.0 IITs may use innovative talent of its students by assigning pat of study as project work to a team.

As promised the Govt. should seriously think about linking of the rivers. more
This is the problem...the CM of the states didn't agree with the SAGARMALA PROJECT for their own interest, whatsoever. Modi ji should impose VERDICT for the implementation of the said project of ATAL JI to avoid unnecessary drainage of the FUND and to minimise the possibility of FLOOD. more
Govt. will not do anything to solve the problem, in fact, all politician see their vested interests because flooding gives them opportunity to harness their interests. more
For politicians and govt employees any calamity like floods, droughts, fire, landslides etc are golden opportunity to mint money. So they are least bothered about preventive measures. more
it is high time the present govt starts thinking on linking the rivers so that the devastation done to the fields etc are saved and the water is used effectively in regions where there is water shortage. more
Also ponds and lakes should be created in available spaces and let rain water drain in these more
Good suggestion. more
