Mahakumbh Loot by various agencies

Today the Dainik Bhaskar paper has carried the LocalCircles survey as main headline of the paper on how people going to Mahakumbh have been subjected to overcharging by all agencies.

It is truthful and I hope Govt actually takes note of these malpractices and ensures it doesnt happen for future events. We paid 37000 for air ticket from Bhopal to Delhi to Prayagraj and 39000 on way back. Boat ride to sangam was 6500. Tent for stay 40000. This should have been not permitted. more

This is the matter of " SUPPLY AND DEMAND". Kumbh Mela was where supply was less and demand was more. Hence everyone tried to squeez up to its maximum. Those who have gone have afforded. Around 66 Crores have been to Kumbh Mela i.e. roughly more then 60% of Hindu Population of India has been there. This also shows the potential of Religious Functions in India. Or so called Religious Tourism. I think it should be well organized and encouraged. more
Why blame people for charging exorbitant prices for goods and services. In India everyone who has a chance does not hesitate to fleece hapless people. Doctors, cab drivers, public schools, authorities issuing various licenses, and so forth and so on. It is only when one's shoe starts pinching that one complaint. I have seen collies at railway stations overcharging at railway and bus stands. Same for auto and taxi drivers, tractor trolley wallahs during harvesting season, banquets halls. Even Mukesh Ambani suddenly increased charges for mobile data. So why crib? more
When such a big even is being organised on such a scale it is bound to happen and we need to think about it and take a well informed decision.govt should have upfront asked airlines to cap the fares and not to fleece customers on the same .Any big event it should be an eye opener to govt to ensure in future that flights are upfront taken into confidence that they will not fleece the customers and put a max limit otherwise stringent action will be taken .This should have been taken long time back before the kumbhmela started and hope in future govt takes this in account and will be an eye opener for them more
Sorry but fault is with people like us only. We all should have quit collectively instead of  enjoying it the excursion way. If one is willing to spend then other will take it happily. You just wait next time what all will happen. Unfortunately we the people do not unite and to meet individual thirst and negative social media satisfaction we are compelled to shell out huge sums. Do give it a thought and I do not intend to hurt anyone's scentiments please  Yahoo Mail: Search, organise, conquer On Sun, 23 Feb 2025 at 1:27 pm, Seema Shrivastava wrote: more
Five of us drove from Ghaziabad to Prayagraj for a 3-day visit (Feb 6-8). Petrol cost Rs. 10,000 + Toll Rs. 2500. Tent was free by an NGO, we still made a donation. Water bottle at Sangam was Rs. 20 and there were several kiosks where you could fill your water bottles for free. Boiled corn available for Rs. 50 and a very tasty 5-poori thali for Rs. 100/-. Tea everywhere was Rs. 10, but Rs. 15 in kulhad. There were several bhandaras available, but we did not avail their service. I guess Ms. Shrivastava wishes to flaunt her high status of paying big amounts for flights and tent stay. more
