Stampede on New Delhi station

LocalCircles CEO has rightly put out on social media that despite people listing out concerns of safety, the Ministry has failed to act.

https://www.localcircles.com/a/press/page/indian-railways-survey-2024

42% of us highlighted that safety on platforms is a concern. Why did the Government not anticipate this crowd. Why no cisf was there so ticketless people are not given platform entry.

Railway Minister must resign, sorry more

Sorry but the transformation has to start from grassroot level. Teach children to wait for their turn in queue. Also cleanliness has to be taught in school and home to children. Crowding is not so rampant in South India. Even cleanliness is way above what is visible north of the Vindhyas. Start educating people. Don't wait for government to do everything. Also where things are not in order submit complaints to appropriate authorities. more
Can we get any better solutions by the so-called technology savy top brass. It is costing for modernization and speed of Trains. Let us divide each division in to 4 maintenance group. Give competitive tender/work. This works- for some time Give best maintenance company award yearly more
Major problems : 1. Paid waiting rooms as dirty and full of rats as the earlier unpaid ones 2. Toilets are totally stinky and unclean 3. Local train stations in mumbai do not have clean toilets for women despite having build a toilet across the nation 4. all the so called RO plants in every station launched with much fanfare are inoperational - who is asking about the money that has been spent on this ? 4. Ac train toilet flushes do not work 90/100 times - despite complaining to TC and others, attendants come and then express inability to do anything - how does one manage 36 hr journeys. i have also seen broken doors which were hitherto unknown - isnt it mandatory to check this and overall cleanliness at source station 5. The blankets stink like crazy - why cant they be washed after every use 6. In the last few years senior citizen concessions have been cheekily withdrawn under the pretext of covid never to be reinstated but concessions and free tickets for our politicians are on - why ? dont they get salaries and pensions like us? 7. In the past 5 years, ticket fares have been hiked substantially but quality has gone down with the same intensity - who is answerable ? 8. Railway retiring rooms have become so expensive - why is the govt out to promote expensive private travel ? 8. even in major long distance trains - pantry is absent - stations have disgusting food - they have the same standard menu across the country (whereas earlier one had local delicacies) - why ? 9. Precious space is occupied in the name of handicraft shops which are all shut - why ? 10. What is the attendant's role and who pays them - they are drunk on most occasions and are totally disinterested in their work - there are people standing and smoking and drinking at the train entrance in the night with the attendant (and this is rampant in trains to and from Gujarat and Rajasthan) 11. Lound music and mobile sounds inside trains - why should somebody always complain - why cant proactive action be taken by authorities ? Safety inside trains has become a huge concern since i have seen attendants in AC coaches drunk and openly drinking and misbehaving (my own experience) - one guy had the audacity to say that you are not travelling by flight when the whole seat had been dirtied by the previous people and we asked him to clean. 12. Cleanliness was there the moment this govt came to power in 2014 - but all that seems to be a big show now with railway accidents becoming rampant, non functional / dirty waiting rooms and totally unresponsive officials and railway minister 13. Lastly the ladders to climb on to the upper berth are so uncomfortable and impractical - and if you get a seat near the door with the upper berth and you are not tall, then be prepared for a nightmare more
Unfortunately Railways are interested in making money only ad have no concern for its customers. For this the senior citizen concession is removed and dynamic fares introduced. Tickets are issued more than the carrying capacity of trains resulting in people without confirmed reservation(RAC) enter reserved compartments and cause discomfort to genuine passengers. Even on normal days there is no system of crowed management on Railway platforms. Railways may consider following suggestions: * Stop issuing plat form tickets. * Allow passengers with confirmed tickets to enter platform. Print a QR Code on ticket which can be scanned at the entry point to platform. * Tickets should carry a message for passengers to report one hour before departure of train. Entry to platform will be stopped 15 minutes before departure time of train. * Train will enter platform 20 minutes prior to departure time * RAC ticket holders whose tickets get confirmed should be requested to collect confirmed ticket from a counter for this purpose one hour before departure of train. * Wait listed and RAC ticket holders should not be allowed to enter platform more
Agree. Ticketless people were given platform entry. No CISF people. Even in other events stampedes have happened! In non-Kumbh events - JULY 2024: stampede But the same precautions or can't say even if those were taken? And who is commenting? Not the poor, non-internet Indians, paying with their lives! Only those empowered with technology and internet, who show they know everything. All knowing, non-action. https://www.reuters.com/world/india/major-stampedes-india-over-years-2025-02-16/ more
