Society is a multiple reflection of media

Many inappropriate things are shown in media like use of abusive language, violence, smoking, drinking, details of how several crimes are committed. Media personnel give the argument they show what is happening in reality. But there are many people in society who do not use abusive language, do not smoke and drink, and lead a good life. Why not base characters on such people?

If media is a reflection of society, society is multiple reflection of media. Something bad happens in society and is shown in media in a glorified manner in detail, crores of people watch it and lakhs copy that bad in their lives. In this manner media multiplies the bad in society. Any bad incident should only be reported in news in short. No details should be given and no series / movies should be made on its details.

Having huge influence on society, all media personnel should realise that they should show only righteous behaviour by all characters in their programmes to stop the spread of bad and to promote the spread of good in society. Media can play a very important role in shaping a good society for all.

If media personnel do not take care of these things on their own, government should certainly step in and ban production, distribution and watching of all inappropriate content. more

It sounds like you're saying that society is shaped by media in many ways, like a reflection seen from different angles. Media influences culture, values, and perceptions, and in turn, society influences media by shaping what is produced and consumed. It’s a continuous cycle of reinforcement and transformation. more
A bsolutely tue. This profession is truly got highly polluted and no ethics in mind of the media professional. Everyone is busy to have a visibility. But it invites a big disaster to a civilised society. more
It is the opposite! Media should represent society. more
There is something called journalistic ethics. This is absolutely lacking now as most of the media is controlled by the political parties. For example, in Tamil Nadu has been in the forefront dishing out twisted news about budget, now about the new education policy. They have been dishing out patently wrong and misleading information. They portray vulgarity to cater to the lowest common denominator which is addictive. Also this way, they are able to divert people's attention from the failures of the governments they support. In other words, like all other fields money speaks. more
