Bangalore Police

The traffic police in Bangalore seem to be well equipped at least at the upper levels, but the same cannot be said of a constable or lower rank. Also there is a shortage of traffic staff in Bangalore. The department should look at more innovative ways of controlling traffic from the traffic control room by regulating the signals from the traffic control room than by the staff at the ground level. Overall, this is one department which can improve a lot with a little help from technology. But, are the concerned people interested?

Traffic police are doing the best within their limits /powers. I see traffic piles up and resulst in jams when it rains. We have sugegsted many times taht Tarffic police must be held responsibile for filling up pot holes and ensuring raod is smooth- for traffic to move smoothly. Unfortunately it is the Corporation / BBMP who is responsible for maitaining roads in good condition. Problem is with wrong division of responsibilities. In PWD/ road laying/pot hole filling - lot of black ilelgal money is made- hence politicinas owquld like to keep those portfoilios with them. So Police constable can only show his hands to stop or allow traffic- notthing more. If traffic piles up in Whitefiled- police constable has littele role- he too is a mute specvtator along with teh citizens. Rtae traffic cops- only after you give them authority and ersponsibility.

Traffic police are missing at important junctions when it rains or when it is after 8 pm, this is causing huge traffic jams in bommanahalli junction, roopena agrahara in Bangalore

I think they have a very hard time with the absence of infrastructure and excess traffic. They are trying their best to manage the traffic under the circumstances. If roads a re widened and Metro work is completed in a timely manner, their burden can be reduced.
