Security should be provided on each train. There should be at least 2 or 3 armed security personnel on each train. Preferably Army, BSF, CRPF or other para-military personnel who are above 50 and no longer considered for active duty can be deployed. The passengers should be levied a Security charge of say Rs. 20 for 1st Class, Rs. 15 for 2 tier A/c, Rs. 10 for 3 tier A/c and Rs. 5 for sleeper class. This will generate employment and also revenue for the Railways.

They are regular police personnel who are trained just like any other police force and not for providing security. They can handle issues like crimes and offences committed on railway property and maintenance of order in platforms. Security on moving trains should be handled separately. more
Very good idea, but my question is RPF is also a central government force, why aren't they trained or are they trained in only civilian duties of a government servant (taking bribes, threatening innocent passengers, don't notice any illegal activites etc even if you notice it just ignore). When the Army, CISF, CRPF etc can do their jobs efficiently why can't the RPF. more
hence I suggested that retired army or BSF personnel who are above 50 should be considered. I am hoping and assuming that compared to regular police, they may not be so corrupt and also they may be motivated by a sense of patriotism and duty having served the nation. The salaries paid to them should not be linked to their pension. This will mean better income and hence more incentive to be honest. more
Good idea as long as these security persons do indulge in corruption and do the duty honestly. more
