169,243 cases and Messed up Priorities

India reported 169,243 new coronavirus cases, the biggest daily figure since the pandemic began.

Models are now projecting an unreal 5 lakhs cases, 25000 hospitalizations and 3000 deaths each day, within a month.

We need everything in our arsenal to stop the surge but right now we are a nation that lacks clarity.

See attached 100,000 people enjoyed shahi snan at Kumbh in Haridwar yesterday. What happens when these people go back to their home towns. more

Either in Kumbha Mela or election campaigning, there has been serious lapses and Corona Virus infected cases has increased. more
Why target only Kumbh mela. Just visit any of the markets or shopping complexes or political rallies and all are full of people not wearing masks, no social distrancing etc. more
No rule work mass civil disobedience, it is only by persuasion, advertisements, health awareness and motivation. World wide, no democratic country succeeded in handling COVID-19;. more
In a democracy that a event coming after 12 year, even with entry restrictions you could not stop gathering ( examples are before us like Kisan Andolan (very small number), Shaheen Bag) . It is for people to take care them self and behave in a discipline manner following Covid protocols otherwise problems will be there for all of us. Corona is going to stay for much longer time. Effectiveness of the vaccines yet to be established (presently it is emergency use). At present Covod protocol is only solution. Problems are becoming more serious for multi-story living. Govt. is its best. We will observe after one month, there will not queue for vaccine as it was a week ago. more
1) Who organised Kumbh gathering and why was it done when the situation is still bad? 2) Why did Election Commission go ahead with 6 State elections in the midst of Pandemic? Why did EC allow physical campaigning as against digital campaign? All political parties including ruling party lured the people with money and made them to dance with Corona..... What happened to COVID rules and where did the Monitoring Authorities go? Why none of the political parties was fined for COVID rule violation????? 3) Government talks about Mask, Social Distancing and Hand Wash as part of COVID Rules, fine but who stopped them from enforcing the COVID Rules???? Why did they leave it to the people after few days??? Will they do the same thing for a VVVIP Security Cover? Today people are being squarely blamed for the spread of COVID as if Government has no role in this second wave disaster... Just because Government Machinery is so powerful and deadly, no one can question them. This called Government "made for the people, made by the people, and answerable to the people". This 'Blame it on Rio' game does not wear anymore. If the Government is really serious and worried about its people's safety, then its representatives should follow the rules first. People will change if the Government is reliable. more
